Asking

Ask

Asking is an important engaging process within a person’s prayer practice. Countless thoughts, countless questions and a limited life span – these three dilemmas keep us all occupied. Being curious by nature is one of the chief aspects separating us from other living beings. For every door closed, we want to knock. For each dead end, we seek another way out. For every mountain top, we yearn to climb it and make the impossible happen. We seek answers when something remains not well understood. This is the essence and the beauty of our creation. However, not every question has an immediate answer, and not every door instantly opens whenever it is knocked. In fact, it might take days or years for us to find an alternate route when we come at the dead end of a tunnel.

Prayer is that enchantment that works when all else fails. Desperate and frantic for chasing a possible answer ends at a prayer mat, so to speak. You may wonder how is that possible? For someone to find answers in a prayer that even scientists or researchers failed to grasp by using in-depth knowledge and most sophisticated research equipment? Well the answer is quite simple. Through meditation. In each prayer, every person is given a chance to let go of all the reservations holding him or her back and reflect on his journey i.e. how far he has come and how far he has yet to go. Through an in-depth contemplation of our voyage, we are able to ask numerous questions from our own selves. What went wrong? What did we miss? What else could be done? And the most important question i.e. What if? All these questions give birth to having a dialogue or discussion seeking things, guidance and direction. With each question we ask, the fog on our thoughts gets cleared out. This clarifies all the wishes of the individual and their will which is the very theme of Asking.
